Atlantic City school students were treated Wednesday to a performance of the Russian children's symphony "Peter and the Wolf" by the Bay Atlantic Symphony, under the direction of conductor Jed Gaylin, back row in center. More than 200 students from Richmond Avenue and Our Lady Star of the Sea schools attended the free event at Dante Hall Theater of the Arts. The program was presented by the Schultz-Hill Foundation, which brings the arts to the community through its free music education programs.

3/21/2014 Holy Spirit presents The Sound of MusicHoly Spirit is a member of the Tri M Music Honor Society St. Ceceilia Chapter 3525, a division of MEofNA Music Educators of North America. There are only 2 high schools in Atlantic County that have Chapters in this organization Holy Spirit and Mainland. We work together at an annual summit every winter semester to share ideas and music. This a international honor society requiring a high GPA and giving back to the community their gift of music, through performance in Nursing Homes, Hospitals and most importantly as mentors to the youth of our community through the Grace Notes Project.
This year Holy Spirit presents “The Sound of Music" wich will be held from March 21-23. It Boasts of a 40 member cast and crew and tech with the Grace Notes Children as an added bonus. They are members of the cast as well as seated in the orchestra pit with our instrumentalists. Our Conductor is Mr. Bill McGready…whose entertaining music you have been listening to this evening, the director is Mrs. Lisa Bibruno, and the choral director is Ms. Claire Newell Collins. The Schultz Hill Foundation has been a loyal supporter of the Arts in our area and is a contributor to the continued effort of Music Education in Holy Spirit. The Holy Spiritt Music Department Names a Musical Fine Arts Scholarhip after the Schultz- Hill Foundation For Its Annual Support of the Holy Spirit Music Deparment (see graphic below). This was announced by Director Claire Collins on Dec. 4th at Mays Landing Country Club. We Join a limited group Of "Named Scholarhips" at Holy Spirit High School.
This Fine Arts Educational Outreach Proem Will be distributed Annually to a Holy Spirit Student every December to Help them Achieve their Goals in the ARTS. |
