A group of residents and visitors to Seashore Gardens Living Center (SGLC) were treated to an enjoyable afternoon of entertainment from the Vaudeville era on Thursday, September 12, in Galloway.
The show, titled ‘The Golden Era of Vaudeville,’ was presented by ‘The Starlite Steppers, a talented group of seniors themselves, based in Cape May County. The troupe, involving dancers, singers as well as a banjo/ukulele/vocalist, had residents singing along to such ‘oldies’ as ‘Tea For Two,’ ‘Ain’t We Got Fun,’ and favorites by Irving Berlin and George M. Cohan.
The event was the third concert in the 2019 Music & Memories Series, sponsored and underwritten by Atlantic City’s Schultz-Hill Foundation. The series is designed to bring the arts to seniors in the community. Schultz-Hill partnered with SGLC and OceanFirst for the performance.
The nonprofit 501(c)3 Schultz-Hill Foundation supports the arts, history and education throughout South Jersey. Programs include the DINA Scholarships, Senior Music Series, Summer Music Program with the Atlantic City Day Nursery and the Arts Outreach collaborative with the Bay Atlantic Symphony and Atlantic City Public Schools.
