More that 90 patrons of the arts gathered at the Casa del Cielo in Atlantic City on May 7 to attend the third annual Arts Club reception for the Schultz-Hill Foundation. Proceeds from the event help to fund the Foundation’s arts programming for students in the greater Atlantic City area.
The Arts Club features up and coming artists, giving them the opportunity to shine for a select few in an intimate setting. This year’s featured performer was Tony Pace, an Atlantic City and Las Vegas headliner with a three-plus octave range and an engaging, sometimes comedic, presentation.
The ‘meet and greet’ portion of the afternoon began at 5 p.m. with a selection of fine wines, domestic and imported beers and cocktails as well as a variety of delicious passed hors d’oeuvres, throughout the event, catered by Gwen Raring of Cape May Court House.
At 6 p.m., guests were asked to be seated around the grand staircase where co-host Gary Hill thanked supporters of the Arts Club and reported on a recent event where Atlantic City school children were taken to Dante Hall to hear members of the Bay Atlantic Symphony play portions of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. This event took place as an element of the Schultz-Hill Foundation’s arts outreach program benefitting area children. He thanked corporate co-sponsors, AtlantiCare and the Cooper Levenson Law Firm.
Gary Hill then introduced the entertainer, California-based writer, singer and producer Tony Pace, who put on an outstanding hour-long performance.
Pace interacted with his audience, singing a variety of music from various eras and genres. He did covers of songs by Lou Rawls, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Louie Armstrong, Boy George and a tribute to Caruso. His most crowd-pleasing number came when he sang both parts of a duet as Willie Nelson and Julio Iglesias performing ‘For All The Girls I’ve Loved Before.’ This hilarious number had Pace changing head-gear as he sang each part in Nelson’s twang and Iglesias’ trained voice. He literally brought down the house.
The event gradually drew to a close with a last offering of hors d’oeuvres and beverages and a dessert table with hot beverages.
Arts Club membership is by invitation only. For inquiries, please email [email protected]. For more information, please visit www.schultz-hill.org.
The nonprofit 501(c)3 Schultz-Hill Foundation supports the arts, history and education throughout South Jersey. Programs include the Dina Scholarships, Senior Music Series, Summer music program with the Atlantic City Day Nursery and our Arts Outreach collaborative with the Bay Atlantic Symphony and Atlantic City Public Schools.
